Olia’s Newsletter

For me, the story of Expresso is not about topics or formats, but about a new meaning of media — about its therapeutic effect, my own imperfect voice, and the feeling that a friend is speaking to you.

I grew fond of Olia’s sense of humor, her perspective on things, and her curiosity to dive into the unclear and the intriguing. And when I don’t have time to follow the news, I can rest easy knowing I won’t miss anything important — it’ll all be in the Expresso letters.

I’ve been reading Olia’s newsletter for several years because, quite simply, it’s written in a very human way. And even though we’ve never met, it feels like Olia and I have already been through and experienced so much together.

Olia’s newsletter should be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list — a way to consume global news without the risk of you going mad prematurely.

I’ve been reading Olia since 2017. Along with her letters, I’ve lived through the pandemic, the war, the shelling. At some point, I realized that only local news and Olia’s letters remained. I unsubscribed from everything else simply because I no longer needed it. I still recommend Olia’s newsletter to all my friends who want to reduce the information overload, cut down on online negativity, and find some balance in these turbulent times.

Expresso is a morning ritual. Each issue is calm and to the point — just the essentials, presented with care and style. What I especially appreciate is that a real person with good taste, not an algorithm, is behind the newsletter.
